If we are going to quarantine posts, can we have a low number (say 5?). One forum I belonged to had a quarantine number of 25 and it was annoying, because of the delay of having a moderator check my post, it basically meant that I couldn't realistically take part in a thread conversation because of the delay. In the end I got so sick of it, I just replied to every thread that had existed in the last couple of days to get it out of the way. As a consequence, the quality of my posts wasn't very high for that period.

I was thinking just the first post a new user makes. One of the forums I visit does this. They call it an 'auditioning process' which is a bit daunting, and a bit w*nky. But they never get any spam that I've seen.

Some spammers will still get through, but if that's combined with the ability to ban users it should work.
