Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding Recipe

This classic self saucing chocolate pudding, or chocolate molten cake as it is sometimes called, is a chocolate lovers dream.

We've encorporated this recipe in one of our weight loss diets for everyday people. Obviously you shouldn't be eating this type of dessert everyday, but it certainly can be part of a weight loss diet if combined well with other, less indulgent, foods.

This recipe is low in saturated fats.

Healthy Dessert Recipe :  Indian Stir Fried Vegetables

Recipe Serves:

This Recipe Serves 6.

Recipe Ingredients:

    Pudding
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup low fat milk
  • 50g extra light margarine, melted
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 2-3 second spray Canola oil spray

  • Chocolate sauce
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar

Recipe Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Canola oil spray a 1.5L oven1.5L proof dish till greased.
  2. In bowl combine the flour, caster sugar & cocoa , once combined make a well in the centre.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the low fat milk, butter and egg. Add this liquid mixture gradually into the well of the dry ingredients, stirring throughout the addition.
  4. Once Pudding mix is well combined, pour into the greased dish & smooth surface with a spatula.
  5. For the chocolate sauce, sift the cocoa powder into a bowel and combine with the sugar. Sprinkle the chocolate powder mixture over the pudding mixture.
  6. Pour the boiling water over the cocoa mixture, gently.
  7. Place in oven and bake for 40-50minutes, or until skewer inserted comes out of cake clean.
  8. Rest cake for 5minutes out of the oven before serving.
