Orange And Cinnamon Poached Pears Recipe

Pears are a good source of fibre and are high in antioxidants, like Vitamin C and copper.

When in season, Beurre Bosc pears are a perfect fruit for poaching because they keep there shape very well.

They also look fantastic when they are served as the photo to the right shows.

Orange And Cinnamon Poached Pears Recipe

Recipe Serves:

This Recipe Serves 4.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 Beurre Bosc Pears, peeled (keep stem intact)
  • 2 teaspoons caster sugar
  • Rind and Juice of small orange
  • Rind and Juice of small lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Recipe Method:

  1. Place 750ml water, caster sugar, rind, juices, and cinnamon in medium sauté pan with lid, and bring to boil while stirring slowly to combine.
  2. Add pears to water and turn down to simmer (lie pears on side if possible). Simmer with lid on for 15 minutes, turning pears over halfway through cooking time.
  3. Serve pears immediately with some natural yoghurt and syrup over the top. Pears can be stored in there juices in the refrigerator for four days if desired.
