Who we are

weightloss.com.au is an Australian website that provides directories of personal trainers, dietitians, weight loss surgeons and retreats, along with healthy recipes and free nutrition and fitness tools. We also offer paid featured listings that let businesses claim and promote their profile. This policy explains how we handle information, and it follows the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

General visitors. If you simply browse the site, we do not ask you for personal information. We use analytics (see below) that collect anonymous, aggregated usage data only.

Enquiries and contact forms. If you contact us or send an enquiry to a listed business through the site, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number and message, so that enquiry can be delivered and answered.

Business owners who claim or upgrade a listing. If you create an account to claim or promote a listing, we collect:

• Your email address (used for passwordless sign-in) and any name or phone number you provide
• Details about your business and the listing you claim
• Content you add to your profile, including descriptions, your logo and photos you upload
• A record of the plan you purchase and your acceptance of our advertising terms

Payments. Payments for featured listings are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. Stripe provides us with limited billing information such as your business name, billing address, ABN if supplied, the last four digits of your card, and the status of your subscription, so we can manage your account and issue tax invoices.

How we use your information

• To let you sign in, claim a listing and manage your profile and subscription
• To verify that you are entitled to claim a business listing
• To process payments, renewals and cancellations, and to issue tax invoices
• To deliver enquiries from potential customers to the relevant business
• To send you service messages, such as a welcome email, renewal reminders and receipts
• To display your business profile and featured placement on the site
• To understand site usage and improve content, layout and performance

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers listed below where needed to run the service.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to understand how visitors use the site. These may collect pages visited, referring website or search query, browser and device type, and approximate location at a country or city level. This data is aggregated and anonymous. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions; you can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. We do not use advertising cookies or remarketing pixels.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted providers to operate the site:

• Stripe processes payments and subscriptions and handles card data and tax invoicing
• Supabase hosts our database and stores account, listing and uploaded image data
• Resend delivers our transactional and enquiry emails
• Vercel hosts and serves the website
• Google Analytics and Google Search Console for traffic and search analytics

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms, including Stripe, Supabase, Resend and Google. Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia.

Data retention

We keep account, listing and billing information for as long as you have an account with us, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard settings. If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information once it is no longer required for these purposes.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of information that is inaccurate or out of date
• Request deletion of your account and personal information, subject to our legal obligations
• Opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 16, and our paid listings are intended for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy
