What is an Accredited Practising Dietitian?

An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is a university-qualified nutrition expert who has completed a minimum four-year degree in nutrition and dietetics. “Dietitian” is a protected title in Australia, meaning only qualified professionals who meet strict education and practice standards can use it.

Unlike “nutritionist” (which is not a protected title and can be used by anyone), APDs are recognised by Medicare, NDIS, DVA, and private health funds. They can provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and work alongside your GP to manage conditions like obesity, diabetes, PCOS, and more.

All dietitians listed on this directory are verified through Dietitians Australia and specialise in weight management and/or obesity support.
