Kelly Cooper
Food & Life Personalised Nutrition / The Food and Life Clinic
About
I'm a dietitian who cares deeply about helping people feel at ease with food and confident in how they nourish themselves. I have specialist training and experience in eating disorders, neurodivergence, mental health, and gut health. I'm also a woman in midlife navigating perimenopause, and I carry a real fire in my belly about the way people in larger bodies are treated—too often with judgement, bias, and shame.
At Food & Life, the approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and respect. We aim to support long-term, sustainable change—not quick fixes. I work with you to understand your eating in the context of your whole life, finding easy and achievable solutions to improving your health through nutrition.
Food is personal—that's why at Food & Life, the approach is personal too.
Approach: Compassionate, non-judgmental, weight-inclusive, person-centred, collaborative, holistic. Anti-weight-stigma advocate. Focuses on sustainable change and healthy relationships with food rather than restriction or quick fixes.
Weight Loss Approach
Weight-inclusive, non-diet, anti-weight-stigma approach. Focuses on long-term sustainable change rather than quick fixes. Grounded in compassion, collaboration, and respect.
Advocates for respectful, person-centred, stigma-free care for people in larger bodies. Does not use restrictive dieting language; uses 'higher weight' terminology by preference. Evidence-based practice informed by research in eating disorders and weight-related therapy.
Kelly has published on the topic of GLP-1/anti-obesity medications (2023 RACGP article: 'New anti-obesity medications: Considerations and future directions in people with concurrent eating disorders'). While she does not explicitly advertise GLP-1 nutrition support as a service, her research expertise and weight management specialty suggest she can support patients on these medications, particularly regarding eating disorder risk. Prospective clients should enquire directly.
