Mikaela Joyes
Eat for Life Dietetics
About
Hi, I am Mikaela Joyes, founder of Eat for Life Dietetics. I am a Brisbane-based Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist and have been helping people improve their nutrition, health and relationship with food since 2013. I enjoy supporting clients across all areas of health and nutrition but have a strong interest and experience in the areas of disability, mental health and women's health.
I believe that food should be simple, tasty, nutritious and most importantly enjoyable. Food requires an individual approach and I enjoy helping clients find the approach that will allow them to not just achieve their goals but also maintain them for life. I believe that I work so successfully with these clients because of my compassionate and caring nature and my ability to listen without judgment to what each client has to say and to be adaptive in my approach.
Approach: Compassionate, non-judgmental, weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, person-centred, adaptive. Strong emphasis on food freedom, building trust in self, and sustainable long-term change rather than short-term dieting.
Weight Loss Approach
Non-diet, weight-inclusive, HAES (Health at Every Size) approach. Uses intuitive eating principles and food freedom framework. Focuses on building a healthy relationship with food and body rather than prescriptive dieting.
Describes weight concerns as requiring extended appointments due to history of dieting or body image concerns. Does not promote fad diets.
