About
At River Oak Health, our philosophy and approach to care is informed by five key principles: being guided by research, informed by clinical experiences and your own life experiences, with you at the centre, and alongside your people. We've created a space we love to be in, through a Health at Every Size® lens and with a trauma-informed approach. Food and eating seems simple enough but the complexities of our society and eating disorders can make a seemingly simple task feel like mission impossible.
Our team has over 20 years of experience helping people from all walks of life take the first step in improving their relationship with food and their body. We are a place to nurture your relationship with food, mind and body. Our values are collaboration, compassion, authenticity, hope and equality — and we offer pro-bono and reduced fee options to ensure access regardless of financial circumstances or geographical location.
Approach: Compassionate, evidence-based, trauma-informed, HAES®, non-diet, weight-neutral, collaborative, holistic. Described as nationally/internationally recognised with a client-centred focus.
Weight Loss Approach
Health at Every Size® (HAES®) and weight-neutral/weight-inclusive framework. Non-diet approach. Focuses on improving relationship with food and body rather than weight loss per se.
Addresses weight concerns, emotional eating, and yo-yo dieting through evidence-based, trauma-informed, compassionate care.
