Japanese Savoury Pancakes

We have kept this recipe simple but delicious, so even the kids will love them.

Japanese Savoury Pancakes

Ingredients

  • *Pancakes:
  • 2 cups finely shredded Chinese cabbage
  • 1 large carrot, shredded
  • 1 cup pain flour
  • 2 tbsp. cornflour
  • 1 spring onion, sliced finely
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • *Sauce:
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise

Method

  1. 1Place all your pancake ingredients into a large mixing bowl and with your hand mix until all incorporated.
  2. 2Heat a large non-stick fry pan, sprayed with cooking spray. Once heated divide your mixture into 4 parts with a spoon and let cook for a few minutes on one side then flip to cook on the other side. Take off heat and place onto your serving plate.
  3. 3Mix the tomato, soy and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and drizzle over the pancakes. Then dollop a little mayonnaise (this is optional) on each pancake.
