About BMI

Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by the square of height in metres: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It is a widely used screening tool to categorise weight status.

BMI does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution. Athletes and muscular individuals may have a high BMI without excess body fat. It should be used alongside other measures for a complete health assessment.
