Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy▼
Sleeve gastrectomy removes most of the stomach to limit food consumption for gradual weight loss. The procedure causes the stomach to produce less Ghrelin (the hormone that triggers appetite), so patients experience little to no hunger sensations between meals. Dr. Kuzinkovas removes 70% to 80% of the outer stomach section, leaving a sleeve-shaped portion behind that limits stomach capacity to 100cc to 150cc (or the size of a small banana).

This obesity surgery involves dividing the stomach into two sections to decrease the size of the stomach pouch. It creates a "Y" connection with the duodenum and stomach pouch. The newly formed gastric pouch can hold around ¼ cup of food. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass causes the small intestine to absorb fewer calories, leading to significant weight loss.
Omega Loop Gastric Bypass▼
Omega loop gastric bypass restricts the amount of food eaten in one sitting by altering the gut hormones that affect appetite control. Often called a mini gastric bypass, it reduces the stomach pouch size and is interconnected to the small intestine. Ingested food bypasses the first portion of the small intestine to reduce calorie absorption, and the smaller stomach causes patients to feel fuller earlier.
Revision Weight Loss Surgery▼
Revision bariatric surgery may be necessary for patients who do not achieve enough weight loss after the first procedure or if comorbid health conditions fail to improve. Sometimes patients experience medical or surgical complications after the initial obesity surgery and require a revision procedure. Dr V. Kuzinkovas evaluates medical history, surgical history and lifestyle choices to identify why the initial operation failed and develops a plan to address the issue.
