It's not just a Diet
Tanya Whitfield from OnTrack, Australia’s No.1 Weight Loss Retreat tells us more about how your choice of words can be sabotaging your success...
What is the first thing that comes to you when you hear the word DIET?
Rabbit food, lettuce leaves, restriction, deprivation, regime, hard work, calorie counting, not social, boring, hungry, quick fix, no energy, foods that have no flavour or taste.
And trust me there are many more NEGATIVE words that I have heard.
So why do we keep calling it a diet when really it is a lifestyle change, or a menu plan or a nourishment plan.
We need to stop sabotaging ourselves just by using such negative words.
These are much more positive words and when you are feeling positive it is much easier to be motivated to keep eating healthy.
So many people tell me that they find eating healthy really boring and tasteless. There are so many ways to add flavour to your food without adding lots of calories.
Garlic, ginger, lemon or lime, coriander, oregano, pepper, chilli are just a few examples of herbs and spices that you can add to a salad or stir fry.
Dressings are also great to add to a salad to make it a little tastier – just remember to avoid the creamy dressings. Check out below for some great dressing recipes.
Mustard Dressing
- 2 parts olive oil
- 2 parts balsamic vinegar
- 1 part honey
- ¼ part dijon mustard
Balsamic Dressing
- 1 part olive oil
- 1 part balsamic vinegar
- 1 part red wine vingear
Lemon Dressing
- 4 parts lemon juice
- 1 part chopped parsley
- Garlic and pepper to taste
Now while we are thinking about using more positive words, lets look at weight loss. These 2 words are generally filled with many emotions – sadness, depression, anxiety, lack of confidence just to name a few.
Also when we lose something it generally implies that we want to find it again – but really who wants to find our weight again once we lose it – not me that’s for sure!!
So why not try using weight management, lifestyle plan, goal plan, or even strength plan.
You need to find words that make you feel inspired.
Good luck with your weight loss and thanks for visiting weightloss.com.au.
