Procedure Information
Sleeve Gastrectomy▼
Sleeve gastrectomy is becoming a more commonly performed procedure in the bariatric community. Some people believe that sleeve gastrectomy can deliver rapid, short-term weight loss results similar to a gastric bypass, yet is less drastic and has fewer complications.
Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass▼
Gastric bypass procedures (GBP) are any of a group of similar operations used to treat morbid obesity, which is the severe accumulation of excess weight as fatty tissue, and the health problems this causes.
Lap Band®47.1% excess weight loss maintained at 15 years▼
The LAP-BAND® System is a clinically proven medical device to aid with long-term weight loss. Studies have shown an average excess weight loss of 47.1% maintained at 15 years, with either complete control or improvement in obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnoea, heart disease, asthma and hypertension, among others.
Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD)>85% of excess weight▼
BPD is usually performed where other procedures have failed or complications have occurred and is not generally performed as a primary weight loss operation. It combines both restriction and malabsorption. There are three versions: the classic BPD (Scopinaro), BPD with Duodenal Switch (DS), and SADI.
Revisional Bariatric Surgery▼
All weight loss operations may require revisional surgery due to a problem that has developed (eg. pouch dilatation/slippage with a lap band or gastric stenosis or reflux after a sleeve gastrectomy) or due to weight regain. Revisional surgery has an inherently higher risk than primary surgery.
ORBERA®▼
The ORBERA® Managed Weight Loss Program is a medical procedure for weight loss that focuses on developing long-term, sustainable and healthy habits.
