You can use your favourite steak but as it only requires a flash fry sirloin or fillet steak works the best. This recipe is low sugar, low carb, low sat fat, and high protein.
This recipe serves 2 (4 lettuce cups).
Ingredients
- 200g steak strips (we used sirloin)
- ¼ red capsicum, sliced
- 8 mushrooms, sliced
- 4 large cos lettuce cups or butter lettuce
- Chilli, paste or fresh to taste
- 1 tbsp. olive oil

Sauce
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp. crushed ginger
- 1 tbsp. mirin or rice wine vinegar
- ½ tsp. brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce, salt reduced
Method
- Layout your lettuce onto your plates, 2 per person. Mix the sauce ingredients in a small dish, set aside.
- Heat a non-stick frypan with olive oil. Stir fry your onion and capsicum for 2 minutes. Add chilli and mushrooms; continue stirring for a couple more minutes. Take off heat onto a plate.
- Add the beef now to the frypan stirring for 1 minute, add mushroom mixture and sauce, stirring to combine.
- Take off heat and divide mixture onto lettuce cups. Sprinkle sesame seeds over.
