About Dr Chung Won
Dr Chung Won is an Australian trained general surgeon with further sub-specialisation fellowship training in laparoscopic, upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery.
- Dr Won is one of very few surgeons providing bariatric surgery for public and private patients – public Bariatric patients are based on strict criteria. He is motivated by achieving results that fundamentally change the lives of his patients for the positive, and believes in universal access to world-class healthcare.
- Graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Moved to Brisbane in 2005 to commence formal training in General Surgery at Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital (RBWH). Obtained specialist qualification in 2009. Undertook a further 3 years of fellowship training in the areas of Bariatric, Upper Gastro-Intestinal and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Brisbane, as well as Concord Repatriation General Hospital Sydney and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. Sometimes referred to as Weight Loss Surgery, Bariatric Surgery is the process of surgically reducing the size of the stomach as a means to reduce the risks of medical problems associated with Obesity, such as Type 2 Diabetes, Sleep Apnoea, Fatty Liver, Heart Disease and various types of Cancers.

Upper GI Surgery▼
