Procedure Information
Laparoscopic Sleeve GastrectomyAverage of 60% excess weight loss within the first 1-2 years▼
The gastric sleeve involves laparoscopic (key hole) surgery to remove 2/3rds of the stomach, reducing the stomach from a large bag like shape holding approximately 2000mL to a thin tubular sleeve that can hold approximately 150mL. It works through stomach size reduction, reduced hunger hormone 'Grehlin', and neurohormonal pathway alterations.
Laparoscopic Roux en Y Gastric Bypass▼
This surgery reduces the size of your upper stomach to a small pouch about the size of an egg. The surgeon does this by stapling off the upper section of the stomach. This reduces the amount of food you can eat.
Single Anastomosis Gastric Bypass▼
The Omega Loop mini gastric bypass (MGBP) works by removing a larger portion of the stomach and bypassing approximately 1.5-2 metres of small bowel. This restricts food intake, reduces hungers and reduces absorption of food.
Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal bypass with Sleeve (SADI-S)▼
The SADI-S procedure is a powerful weight loss surgery that combines the benefits of a sleeve gastrectomy with an intestinal bypass. This procedure is often recommended for individuals with severe obesity or those who have had unsuccessful weight loss with a sleeve gastrectomy alone.
Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band▼
The LAP-BAND® System involves placing a band at around the proximal part of the stomach to reduce food intake.
