About Dr Anik Sarkar
- He believes care should be a joint effort and will work with his patients, treating physicians and members of allied health to support his patients getting the most effective care and treatment.
- Dr Sarkar completed his surgical training throughout the southern network, including St George hospital, Wollongong hospital and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. Dr Sarkar obtained his FRACS in 2020 and underwent an Upper Gastrointestinal specialised fellowship at Wollongong hospital in 2020 and an Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric fellowship at St George Hospital (which is one of the highest volume bariatric centres in Australia) in 2021. Towards the end of 2021, Dr Sarkar relocated to the UK to undergo a prestigious subspecialty fellowship in Robotics/Oesophago-Gastric Surgery at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust. The only fellowship of its kind in the UK which is also endorsed and approved by the Royal College of Surgeons England. During his fellowship, Dr Sarkar performed a high volume of oesophageal and gastric resections, bariatric surgery, and benign surgery through minimally invasive procedures and use of the Da Vinci Robot.
