- Graduated from the University of Otago in 1992 with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. Internship in Wellington, NZ. Residency and surgical training at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. Fellowship of Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2001 via Sydney South Eastern rotation. Subspecialty training as the Lister Lecturer in Surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, UK.
