Allurion Gastric Balloon10 to 15% of their weight▼
The Allurion Gastric Balloon comes in a small capsule attached to tubing that is swallowed in the clinic. The correct position of the balloon is confirmed with XRays and the whole procedure takes about 15 to 30 minutes. No anaesthetic is required. The Allurion Balloon involves no surgery or anaesthesia, it is the "Swallowable" balloon. It simply passes after 4 months.
Sleeve Gastrectomy▼
The Sleeve Gastrectomy leaves you with a smaller stomach and simply cannot hold anywhere near as much food initially. The volume of food you can eat does increase with time, but does not return to the previous volume. Most of the stomach is removed leaving a narrow tube.
Gastric Band▼
Gastric Bands are the safest and have the smallest weight loss. You want to eat less, and must eat food more slowly, and therefore eat less. A silicone band is placed around the upper stomach.
Gastric Bypass▼
Bypasses achieve the biggest weight loss and have the highest risk. You want to eat less, and the stomach holds less food, and therefore eat less, and the body cannot absorb all the calories you eat. Major rearrangement of the GI tract so that fat and sugar are less well absorbed. Dr Draper does not perform Gastric Bypass surgery and this information is provided for educational purposes.
